The Best of Italy ~ Traveling around Rome, Perugia, and Florence.

Our experiences in Italy were a series of days bopping around from place to place, eating, drinking, and walking (literally).  A few of my favorite things –

1.  The go-with-the-flow way of life that seems to be the Italian way.  Enjoyment was a priority, and most of the day seemed to be dedicated to second-to-second appreciation.  What a way!

2. Food is literally the best you may ever indulge in.  This is why … Here in the states, we seem to have become accustomed to eating processed, packaged, food cultivated and created far from our actual homes.  It can be good, and delicious; however, in Italy everything is seemingly the opposite – pure and fresh.  Pizza was cooked with olive oil made right down the street, homemade dough, and fresh vegetables from the local market.  Even gelato was light and never filling.  There is something so fulfilling in understanding the quality of your food.  Our cooking class (with photos above) was one of the most treasured experiences of the entire trip.  If you ever find yourself in Tuscany or Florence, look up Walkabout Florence for the best coking class of your life!

3. Wine.  Local and affordable.  It’s plain weird if you don’t drink wine for lunch and dinner.

4. History.  It is everywhere you walk.  Every street corner has a story that explains the food, culture, and traditions of Italy.  There is so much learn and so much more to appreciate.

I fell in love with Central Italy, and the people who involved me in such a great adventure.  Until next time, Italy.  Ciao Bellissima!
